ICVD Consensus Documents

International Classification of Vestibular Disorders (ICVD)

The Bárány Society establishes evidence-based consensus and standardization regarding defining syndromes, diseases, diagnostic procedures, and treatments in the field of neurotology through its standardization committee and collecting feedback from other stakeholders.

To do this effectively, we created the International Classification of Vestibular Disorders (ICVD) and installed the Classification Committee of the Bárány Society (CCBS). The CCBS formed a number of subcommittees that address specific vestibular disorders and other associated topics. For more information about the subcommittees, please click here.

A series of consensus documents have been published in the Journal of Vestibular Research and others are currently under development by the CCBS. Its goal is to define key vestibular symptoms as a basis for a subsequent classification of specific vestibular disorders and then to build consensus around these formalized definitions. Members of the Bárány Society are invited to contribute to the consensus process.
